Journey into the realms of primal shaking and shamanic trance.
Shaking is a primal instinct observed in wild animals after a life-threatening event. They shake to release tension and trauma, and return to balance.
Yet, we have been socially conditioned to be calm, cool, and collected. Which sadly means we’re suppressing a LOT of our wild impulses.
The voyage begins with intentional somatic exercises, gently anchoring you into the sanctuary of your internal self. Nurturing and regulating your nervous system, and paving the way for a full-body shake experience.
And then we shake.
Shake to re-wild and un-tame our natural impulses.
Shake to cast off suppressed experiences that live in the body.
Shake to unlock boundless reservoirs of trapped energy within.
Your hips and core, revered as the sanctuaries of untapped potential, will be a main focus, so YES ... Flow Space Yoga and Arts, 117 NW 16 Avenue, Gainesville. Aurora Healing Arts - [more][facebook][events]

Have you ever felt a tingling, expansive energy in your body?
That is what I call a state of soulful embodiment, when the cells have activated into a fluid state, and the container of our skin is malleable. It is a feeling I describe as being connected to source energy, while being deeply rooted in my body.
This class is a journey crafted to reach that activated state. We will use visualization, improvisational movement, vocalization, imagination and play - to feel open, elevated, creative and hyper present.
And it is not about letting go of thoughts, rather, we create a connection between body and mind to engage the mind in an inner awareness, follow curiosity and act on creative impulses.
This work is from my personal practice, and it is an integration of things I have learned in the past 30 years: from Modern Dance and Contact Improvisation, to Laban Movement A ... Join us for a deep dive into foundations of Contact Improvisation every second Sunday.
Contact improv is a dance form that explores touch, weight sharing, and finding a flow state with other bodies. Beyond the physical, it’s a beautiful way to practice listening, trust, following impulses, and cultivating playfulness.
These workshops are a chance to learn and deepen CI skills, with a combination of exercises and open dancing to integrate what you've learned.
October’s workshop focuses on how we physically communicate consent. We’ll practice saying no, yes, yes and - through our bodies. We’ll explore ways to invite another into a dance and how to read responses through body language.
In addition to recognizing that consent can change in every moment of our dance ...
