Come join us for a full day workshop celebrating the vibrant Lindy hop scene in Florida. Our event, SSO 9: Homegrown - A Taste of Florida, promises an exciting lineup of instructors from across the state. Learn about different Lindy hop scenes and what makes them unique.
$40 for the afternoon workshops and evening dances.

Classes:
12:00 pm: What is the Count Again? with Bethany Byrnes and April Choi
- 4 count moves, 6 count moves, 8 count moves. But the music is in 4/4. How do we make this work?
1:15 pm: Stretch Goals with Alex Morrison and Roxie Smith
- 6 and 8 count patterns, a bazillion ways to make a send-out feel, what if the lead chases the follow on a send-out, what if we make the send-out 8 counts, what if it is stretchy, what if it is LA, what if it is a promenade, stuff like that
2:30 pm: Making your Dancing Flow with Zach Bush
- Have you ever watched people dancing and thought, "Wow everything looks so smooth, I wish I could do that?" Well then this is the class for you. In this class, we will be exploring how to make transitions and movements more fluid. Instead of the dance being a disconnected mashup of all the moves in your repertoire, we will work on blending moves into one another so that it becomes a continuous conversation.
3:45 pm: Phenomenal Cosmic Jazz Power, itty bitty Playing Space with Dominic
- Play. Joy. Effervescent enthusiasm. Come to the last class of the day where Dominic will take you on a collective and solo journey into the jam circle. This tradition in jazz culture holds all the answers to yourself and to the future. He will give you the tools to move boldly, move stylishly, but most importantly, just move.
Dances:
8:00 pm to 11:00 pm: Main Dance with live music by In Full Swing
- Swing into the night with live music and dancing at the Rosa B. Williams Center.
12:00 am to 2:00 am: Late Night Dance
- Keep the energy going at our late-night dance event held at the Civic Media Center, 433 S Main St, Gainesville, FL 32601
