Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.
This one-hour class is perfect for all levels of experience and fitness.

Maybe it's your competitive nature that drives you to expand your skills past a one-hour beginner lesson. If you are interested in learning about balboa, how to dance the basics, or want to comfortably dance to faster tempos, this is the place to come! This is not a series you want to miss as it will not only allow students to dance balboa socially, but also prepare them for our October balboa dance and workshop with a special guest instructor!
This series will consist of five weeks of lessons and although there may be time to review topics, many of the lessons will build upon those learned the previous week so attending every session will be to your benefit!
Shoes with suede or leather soles are highly encouraged; students may experience some difficulty wearing shoes that don't allow them to slide.

Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is for dancers of all shapes, sizes, and genders.
Tribal Fusion combines the techniques of American Tribal Style, Hip Hop, Classic Westernized dance, American Cabaret Bellydance and much more to create a style that is modern, serpentine, and smooth, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance also uses some of the same movement principles from traditional forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Odissi, and other folkloric and classical dance styles. Our first dance will be June 30th, 7:30 pm and will be facilitated by the lovely Angela Betancourt. Our dances will then go on every other Sunday from that date forth. Beginning Sept. 1st (fingers crossed), alternating weekends will be hosted by HOWL.

If you are interested in learning about balboa, how to dance the basics, or want to comfortably dance to faster tempos, this is the place to come! This series will consist of five weeks of lessons and although there may be time to review topics, many of the lessons will build upon those learned the previous week so attending every session will be to your benefit!

Start your tango journey with the UF Argentine Tango Club. You’ll be challenged to think and move using tango ideas with an engaging and diverse group. You will do individual exercises and partner activities to explore what tango is all about.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall semester, with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.
What to wear: If you own a pair of salsa shoes or jazz/ballet flats, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Fancy shoes are not necessary and please avoid flip flops or tennis shoes.

If you are interested in learning about balboa, how to dance the basics, or want to comfortably dance to faster tempos, this is the place to come! This is not a series you want to miss as it will not only allow students to dance balboa socially, but also prepare them for our October balboa dance and workshop with a special guest instructor!
This series will consist of five weeks of lessons and although there may be time to review topics, many of the lessons will build upon those learned the previous week so attending every session will be to your benefit!
Shoes with suede or leather soles are highly encouraged; students may experience some difficulty wearing shoes that don't allow them to slide.

Start your tango journey with the UF Argentine Tango Club. You’ll be challenged to think and move using tango ideas with an engaging and diverse group. You will do individual exercises and partner activities to explore what tango is all about.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during the Fall semester, with some exceptions so be sure to check each week.
Where: Most classes will be held in Dance Studio B, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. A few will be held in Studio A next door to B. So be sure to just check the schedule information at the door if you are unsure.

Sun 22 Sep 2019, 7:30 pm. We are super excited to announce that we will be in one of the new homes to ecstatic dance as the beloved energy/space of Aurora Healing Arts transforms into HOWL, The House of Waking Life, a creation by Brooke Rosen We are so excited.
Our first dance will be June 30th, 7:30 pm and will be facilitated by the lovely Angela Betancourt. Our dances will then go on every other Sunday from that date forth. Beginning Sept. 1st (fingers crossed), alternating weekends will be hosted by HOWL.
This dance will explore the 5 Rhythms of Ecstatic Dance. In this environment we will let go of judgment of ourselves and others, embrace whatever emotions arise, and feel free to move, shake and groove however our bodies choose.

If you are interested in learning about balboa, how to dance the basics, or want to comfortably dance to faster tempos, this is the place to come! This is not a series you want to miss as it will not only allow students to dance balboa socially, but also prepare them for our October balboa dance and workshop with a special guest instructor!
This series will consist of five weeks of lessons and although there may be time to review topics, many of the lessons will build upon those learned the previous week so attending every session will be to your benefit!
Shoes with suede or leather soles are highly encouraged; students may experience some difficulty wearing shoes that don't allow them to slide.
