Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

Nia is a cardio dance group fitness class that incorporates martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness, holistic fitness and well-being. Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.
This one-hour class is perfect for all levels of experience and fitness.

Performances across many continents and at Kennedy Center in D.C. and in Ken Burns’ PBS documentaries have made this band famous. Oft played tunes from their CD’s Waltz Time, Waltz Time II and Notorious, including the tune Payne’s Prairie, have made them familiar favorites.
Notorious will perform as a trio with Larry Unger on banjo and guitar; Eden MacAdam-Somer on fiddle and vocals; and Sam Bartlett on mandolin and jaw harp.

If people want, I will do a lesson at 7:30. The lesson will be suitable for anyone that has some partner dance experience. Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.
