Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

Ongoing Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm. Feel like a new, fun and challenging hobby? Give Argentine Tango a try. Confirm dates as there is no dancing during breaks.
We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

These classes cater to new dancers, that is those people who have never danced before. These are social dance classes. The focus is on having fun, while you learn to dance with a partner. You build your confidence in a non-judgmental atmosphere. No one tells anyone else what to do.
Safety comes first. These are gentle classes. There is no pushing and no pulling. Everyone does their own dancing.
No experienced needed. Good for any beginning dancers, as well as experienced dancers who want to improve their basics or just come out and dance. There is a lot of dance time.
Couples friendly classes. You can dance just with your partner, if you like.
Singles friendly classes. No partner needed. We do rotate partners, for those that want.
Two classes for the price of one.

Schedule varies based on participants requests. Generally we do Advanced West Coast Swing or Lindy Swing each week and another dance that you find useful at dance socials.
Everyone is encouraged to come the whole time. Beginning dancers are welcome at the advanced sessions.
Advanced West Coast Swing focuses on quality of movement, solid basics, partner connection, musicality, styling and improvisation.
Classes are with a small group on Monday nights where you get personal attention to help you get better. Sessions are adjusted to the individual needs of those attending.
For beginners, sessions are aimed at building confidence so you are comfortable going to dances.
For all dancers, attention is directed at helping you improve by mastering the fundamental techniques.

Safety comes first. These are gentle classes. There is no pushing and no pulling. Everyone does their own dancing.
No experienced needed. Good for any beginning dancers, as well as experienced dancers who want to improve their basics or just come out and dance. There is a lot of dance time.
Couples friendly classes. You can dance just with your partner, if you like.

Gainesville is hosting a Balboa workshop. Brennan DeVoe will be teaching a one day intensive workshop to bring you from the ground up with your Balboa.
The workshop will be in the basement dance studio of the Reitz Union. There will be three hours of lessons with ten minute breaks in between.
After the workshop, make sure to head to our evening dance to show off your new moves. It will be held downtown at Persona Vintage Clothing & Costumes, at 201 SE 2nd Pl from 9:30 pm to midnight. Parking is available in the GRU parking lot nearby.
The total price for the workshop and evening dance will be $15 cash at the door. Housing will be available for any out-of-town dancers wishing to attend. Please contact Alex Haley if you would like to be housed.

Schedule varies based on participants requests. Generally we do Advanced West Coast Swing or Lindy Swing each week and another dance that you find useful at dance socials.
Everyone is encouraged to come the whole time. Beginning dancers are welcome at the advanced sessions.
Advanced West Coast Swing focuses on quality of movement, solid basics, partner connection, musicality, styling and improvisation.
Classes are with a small group on Monday nights where you get personal attention to help you get better. Sessions are adjusted to the individual needs of those attending.
For beginners, sessions are aimed at building confidence so you are comfortable going to dances.
For all dancers, attention is directed at helping you improve by mastering the fundamental techniques.

Safety comes first. These are gentle classes. There is no pushing and no pulling. Everyone does their own dancing.
No experienced needed. Good for any beginning dancers, as well as experienced dancers who want to improve their basics or just come out and dance. There is a lot of dance time.
Couples friendly classes. You can dance just with your partner, if you like.
Singles friendly classes. No partner needed. We do rotate partners, for those that want.
