Nia is a low-impact movement technique, inspired by dance, martial arts, and mindfulness practices. Nia is easily adaptable to all levels of fitness and experience. Nia creates a playful and powerful experience, boosting pleasure, strength, mobility, stability, and overall well-being. Small group classes are facilitated in a relaxed, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.

We will do individual exercises and partner activities to understand this improvisational dance! We will explore various concepts of connection (to oneself, to the music, to the dance partner, to the dance floor, to other social dancers).
Parking is available on campus after 5 pm.
What to wear? If you own a pair of salsa shoes, jazz/ballet flats, or Toms, those work great. If not, bring a thick pair of socks to dance in. Partner Dance? You are welcome to join with or without a partner. Those who come alone will be paired up.

For those who have never been to a Big Daddy party before - we celebrate all Swing dances and some other related fun dances as well. Music is about 30% each Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing, with about 10% 'other' (Carolina Shag, Charleston, Country Two Step, Blues, Waltz). I am working out the details, but the plan at the moment is: 7-8pm - Swing Dance Lesson - Carolina Shag with Ray Parris. 8-11pm - Social Dancing. $15 lesson and dance. $10 dance only.
