Scalp Lock
World Premiere
Choreographed by Donna Ahmadi
Performed by Ahmadi with a trio of dancers
Scalp Lock is a live, mixed-modality performance including contemporary dance, traditional Native American concepts, puppetry, and structured improvisation. The work initiates an exploration of lines of social, spiritual, ethnic, and environmental connection through the metaphor of the Native American braid. Scalp Lock was initiated from experience, remembrance and storytelling inspired by the life and teachings of Tarin Chaplin.
