A Jazz Happening

Sun 23 Aug. Ted Shawn Theatre, Becket, MA. This one-of-a-kind benefit features talented dancers of the Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance program, performing alongside Broadway stars after three weeks of intense study and preparation at The School at Jacob's Pillow. Directed by Broadway's Chet Walker, A Jazz Happening includes original choreography by the Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance artist faculty and live music by an onstage jazz band directed by Steve Marzullo (Mamma Mia.). The program will include will feature the world premiere of Locked Up Laura, a new work by choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, the Jacob's Pillow premiere of Destino Incierto by choreographer Carlos Sierra-Lopez, Good Night Paradise by Ramón Oller, Tito on Tambales by William Whitener, and delicious excerpts from Club Havana, stirring up the intoxicating rhythms of the Rumba, Mambo and Cha Cha brought to life by Cuban choreographer Pedro Ruiz.
