Rockville MD Mar. 29, 2009 2pm-4pm American Dance Institute 1570 East Jefferson St. Rockville, MD 20852 Peridance Center's Teen Intensive offers a challenging, four-week comprehensive training program for dance students ages 14 to 18 years old. July 6 through August 1 2009 in New York City. The Intensive offers a unique opportunity for young dancers to be carefully integrated into Peridance Center's renowned training program. Commended by Dance Magazine as "a place for serious dancers," the high caliber of education at the Peridance Center has created a reputation for excellence, drawing students from around the globe.

Faculty members and guest teachers have included such acknowledged figures as Jose Manuel Carreno, Jeanne Solan, Robert Battle, Nicole Wolcott, and Patricia Kenny among many others.

The program and its curriculum are designed to challenge, stimulate and develop each dancer's technical ability as well as enhance their creativity, confidence, performance skills, and self-expression in a supportive, fun and safe environment. This program offers 25 classes per week, 10 more than comparable summer programs.

Students will be given the opportunity to experience what life is like in an actual dance company by learning repertory from an array of professional choreographers. This work will then culminate in a student showcase performance. This is open to the public, allowing the dancers the chance to demonstrate their progress and achievements to family and friends.

Housing and Activities
Housing is made available for the out-of-town Teen Intensive students through The New School University. Accommodations are located in close proximity to Peridance Center. The students are fully supervised by Resident Counselors who, along with Peridance Center staff, enforce a curfew and additional rules and regulations to ensure the safety of each student. The Dormitories are equipped with full kitchens. Peridance Counselors will assist with purchasing food as students are responsible for their own dietary needs.

In addition to the classes and rehersals, the students are encouraged to participate in weekend excursions such as dance performances, museum trips, beach trips and concerts, sampling the richness and diversity of New York City. A ticket for one such performance is included in the tuition.
